EYESAFE is a text file from the U.S. Department of Labor (OSHA Fact
Sheet No. OSHA 92-35). This text details OSHA's "Eye Protection in
the Workplace" rules. As the text says, "Every day an estimated 1,000
eye injuries occur in American workplaces. The financial cost of
these injuries is enormous--more than $300 million per year in lost
production time, medical expenses, and workers compensation. No
dollar figure can adequately reflect the personal toll these accidents
take on the injured workers." This file tells some of the common
causes of eye injuries in the workplace and some ways to avoid them.
Interesting, and just like it was when I was working as a chemist
(they were sticklers for Eye Protection).
